The Low Vision Rehabilitation Service at the Illinois Eye Institute is dedicated to serving patients of all ages who are visually impaired and whose vision cannot be improved through medical or surgical treatment. Our goal is to help patients attain the highest level of independent living possible given their visual limitations.
Patient services include:
+ Evaluation of partially sighted and visually disabled patients.
+ Counseling and social services to help patients deal with the emotional trauma of vision loss and to introduce them to the many community resources available.
+ Optical correction for partially sighted patients using specially-designed optical systems.
+ Orientation and mobility training, including individualized adaptive training for daily living tasks.

There are many benefits associated with using Enhanced Vision’s electronic magnification devices over standard optical magnifiers. Some advantages may include:
+ Larger Field of View (increased viewing area with increased magnification)
+
Adjustable Color Contrast (choose from a variety of color combinations based on your visual needs)
+
Adjustable Magnification (can vary up to 75x magnification depending on your screen size)
+
Adjustable Brightness
+
Auto Focus (automatically focuses on the object being magnified for clearest image output)
+ Freeze Frame (capture and store images)
+
Line Markers (maintain the location of text as you are reading)
Overall, electronic magnifiers are a good investment for someone who can no longer benefit from traditional optical magnifiers and because of the adjustable features, electronic magnifiers tend to grow with a person as their visual needs may change.
