Dr. Darrell G. Schlange received his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Illinois College of Optometry, where he also completed a residency program in pediatrics/binocular vision. He serves as an attending optometrist in the Pediatrics & Binocular Vision Service of the Illinois Eye Institute and teaches a course on Binocular Vision & Ocular Motility.
Dr. Schlange’s research interests include eye movements, the Visagraph and Readalyzer, visual attention (T.O.V.A.), colorimetry, developmental disabilities and visually related reading and learning disabilities. He has given numerous research presentations at local, national and international meetings. He has also published articles in several professional journals. Dr. Schlange is active in local and state organizations dedicated to the education and treatment of disabled children and adult. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, College of Optometrists in Vision Development, Optometric Extension Program and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Schlange received in 2003 an honorary degree Doctor of Science in Optometry.
