Dr. Harthan received her bachelor’s of science degree in biology from Bethel College in Minnesota in 2002. Dr. Harthan received her optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2006 and completed a residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at the same institution in 2007. She joined the faculty of the Illinois College of Optometry in 2007. Throughout her clinical experience, Dr. Harthan has also worked in private practice and hospital based settings.
Dr. Harthan is currently an attending optometrist/clinical instructor in the Cornea Center for Clinical Excellence of the Illinois Eye Institute. She has received several awards for her clinical work. Dr. Harthan is currently investigating corneal aberrations post-orthokeratology and the association of superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis and graft-versus-host disease.
